Welcome! I'm really happy our paths crossed.
My name is Alex and I am proud to serve as both a Registered Dietitian and the Nutrition Director here at Austin Counseling and Nutrition. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em!) with my Bachelors in Psychology and obtained my Masters in Nutrition from Texas State University. I've been working at ACN for 4 years and am proud to be a part of this amazing practice.
I’m passionate about practicing from an anti-diet lens, grounded in the principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size®. With training in both psychology and nutrition, I support clients in addressing not just what they eat, but how they think and feel about food and their bodies. I genuinely love the work I do and feel grateful to support individuals as they build a more peaceful, trusting relationship with food and their bodies. Diet culture has harmed too many people, and I’m committed to helping individuals recognize those harmful messages, challenge them, and rebuild a relationship with food and body that feels steady, empowered, and free.

I am one of those unicorns from Austin, TX. I am married to my husband and have a 16 year old bonus-daughter, who I love to cook for (stereotypical dietitian, right?). In my free time, I love trying new recipes to cook, exploring new restaurants around Austin (ask for my list), binge-watching TV (especially anything Bravo) and spending as much time with my dog, Tucker, as I can! I lost my 16 year old soul dog, Noah, in January 2025 and haven't been the same without him!
My counseling style is warm, direct, and occasionally a little sarcastic, because sometimes humor helps us tell the truth. I prioritize compassion and validation, and it matters to me that you feel understood, not judged. I frequently use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you better understand the different parts of you that show up around food and body image. The insight that comes from this work can be transformative. I will ask thoughtful, sometimes challenging questions — not to push you, but to help you grow. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe, and I’ll be right there with you. I care about the people I work with and believe in their capacity for healing and empowerment.
I’m deeply committed to creating a judgment-free, shame-free space where healing can actually happen. Cultivating self-compassion is foundational to this work. Whether you’re struggling with an eating disorder or just feeling stuck in your relationship with food and body image, you deserve support. You are worthy of a relationship with food and your body that feels steady and kind. I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.

Food was never meant to consume this much of your mental energy. Your relationship with it should feel steady and uncomplicated, not exhausting! Just imagine what could grow in that space instead: your goals, your relationships, your passions, your joy.
