A little bit about me:
Are you exhausted by the perpetual, confusing misinformation society and the media are telling you is “right” or “wrong” when it comes to what to put in your body?
Our relationship with food is supposed to be easy. It it not supposed to take up as much mental real estate as it so often does. Just think about what other amazing, happy, and worthy things could be taking up that space instead!

Fun Facts About Me:

* I love all genres of music, especially country, rap, and pop.
*I get reverse seasonal depression - I thrive in the Fall and Winter.
* My favorite type of food is Asian. My dream is to go to Japan.

Hi! My name is Alex and I am proud to serve as both a Registered Dietitian and the Nutrition Director here at Austin Counseling and Nutrition. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em!) with my Bachelors in Psychology and obtained my Masters in Nutrition from Texas State University. I've been working at ACN for over 3 years and am proud to be a part of this amazing practice.
I am so glad you are here! I am passionate about an anti-diet approach to food and support the principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size®. My psychology and nutrition background together allow me to help a variety of individuals. I am crazy in love with what I do, and am determined to support as many folks as I can in achieving the healthiest relationship with food and body as possible.

I am one of those unicorns from Austin, TX. I am married to my husband and have a 14 year old bonus-daughter, who I love to cook for (stereotypical dietitian, right?). In my free time, I love trying new recipes to cook, exploring new restaurants around Austin (ask for my list), binge-watching TV (especially anything Bravo) and spending as much time with my dogs, Noah and Tucker, as I can!
My nutrition counseling style is direct and empathetic. I believe in being honest and straightforward with my clients, while also showing compassion and understanding. I will ask the hard questions and guide you in digging deeper, because I believe that's when the growth happens. I love sarcasm and truly connect with and care for every one of my clients.
I am a firm believer in a no judgment and shame-free zone when it comes to pursuing a healthy relationship with food and body image. Learning self-compassion is key! Whether you struggle with an eating disorder or are just in need of a little direction and support, you are worthy of a healthy relationship with food and body, and I would be so happy to meet you and help you get there!
